Comment by Michael Kunke on October 27, 2010 at 2:45pm: @ Yaseen, you have mentioned a very critical issue 'giving from the heart' this is an area that I think we should take a very critical look at, the teaching environment is not that attractive and lucrative especially in the preschool lower primary's and the senior high schools, so it takes some amount of sacrifice to over look all the difficulties that come with the teaching conditions.
Now in Ghana, currently we are having a big problem, becasue students who are supposed to enter secondary school have had to await at home till now, before going to school and some are not even sure if they will be getting a school, some schools do not have to facilities to take in new students, our education is in such a confused state, and the funny thing is that the ministers who make the laws do not have their children in the country. Every eight years when a new government is elected into power a new change is introduced to the educational system, one comes and changes the name of the system from secondary school to senior secondary school, the next government changes the duration from three years to four years, another government comes and also decides to reduce it back to three years. Teachers are going on strike every other month. Goverment spends money on plush vehicles and housing projects for government ministers, whiles people are still attending school under trees and make shift structures, the least change in the weather means school is over. I was in the a village in the western region of my country recently to shot a documentary and as at 9:00am the students were still hanging around, unbelievable. And there are very serious issues concerning education in Ghana, but we just blink an eye over it, we are in such a hurry to achieve the MDGs that we have forgotten about the quality standards, the politicans come on TV's to just mention nice figures in percentages as achievements but the question is does it reflect on the ground, the answer is a big NO. Let me hold it here before I get emotional. God Bless Our Home Land Ghana

Comment by Michael Kunke on October 9, 2010 at 7:39pm: Education a key factor to a country's survial and advancement, although my country Ghana is doing well with Goal 2 of the MDG's I think we are way back in moving it to the next level when it comes to quality education, and that is where The Kunke Foundation is aiming for.
