Well our "space balloon flight" attempt went bust. The test flight the day before took a left turn at the end, landing more than 70km away from where it was supposed to due to the late bursting of the balloon. This damaged the payload and telemetry systems as it landed in the ocean about 50m offshore.The weather degraded again for the Sunday too practically gauranteeing a landing in the lake or out to sea. Considering where Saturday's flight landed - well de decided we didnt want to go swiming twice in October - it's still a bit cold down here!

To see what might have been - here is the film a shot on 10.9.10 of the Horus 8 Balloon flight. It doesnt qualify for ODOE as it wasnt shot on the day, but you still might enjoy it!

I have a telescope that can be attached to my still camera, so I'll try to shoot some stills at night on 10-10!

How are others proposing to involve space in this project I wonder? I am involved with a group that is planning on launching a helium balloon with a camera and tracking payload to the edge of space on 10.10.10 over South Australia. The last launch this group undertook reached an altitude of 116,000ft.
