New Orleans is one of the last truly unique, idiosyncratic places left in the United States. My family is from South Louisiana, my grandparents spoke French, and I've recently relocated back to the Gulf Coast after 20 years in New York and Los Angeles. Like I tell anyone who will listen: if it was just the food, music and architecture- that would be enough to last me a lifetime. But it's so much more than that...
